Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While participating in internet poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
