Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from others annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
