Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
