Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best bettors in the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
