Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best gamblers in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
