Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While participating in internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
