Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While wagering on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
