Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
