Seems like most folks are generally talking about pre-flop strategy, so I would like to speak a little bit about how I wager on soon after the flop. Maybe I can help others, or maybe they have advice to improve my play.

I consider that 2 of the most critical plays soon after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive wager. Which is because these are the plays you produce whenever you havent hit a hand but you’ve a good drawing hand. Its easy to bet on a hand once you flop a monster. But I think that these two are the best ways to bet on a drawing. Each one is bet depending on you opponent(s) and your postion. So here is how I wager on it, so tell me what you think.

Early Placement – Tight Opponents:

A semi-bluff works fairly effectively in this position. Arrive out gambling and if a tight player did not hit a hand he’ll probably lay down, and if he’s unsure you may perhaps receive a call. Except watch out, if that tight player comes back more than the top it may be time to get away.

Early Position – Loose Competitors

It is had been I like to try and do a defensive wager. Come to a decision how numerous chips you are willing to risk on your draw and bet. It is normally a much smaller wager than normal. It’s been my encounter that the loose player will usually just call a bet instead of re-raise. On the other hand, when you check to them, theyre a lot more likely to throw in more chips than your willing to pay.

Late Placement – Tight Opponents

That is the greatest time to try and do a semi-bluff, specially if most of the table checks. If that’s the case you’ll probaly pick up the pot now. If a player prior to has wager, you’ve to come to a decision if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he will most likely go away since he was attempting to steal the pot. When you imagine he does, properly then it’s time to calculate your odds, and determine if the pot odds are worth the call.

Late Place – Loose Opponents

This one is often a bit challenging, simply because it’s tougher to put a loose gambler on a hand. And if your in late location against loose player, chances are they’ve already wager. This really is had been I usually come to a decision to take a chance and appear back over the top of them and hope they do not call, and if they do, nicely then its time to gamble. Chances are although even a loose gambler will go away if you arrive back strong enough.

Don’t forget although that these are moves I only make following the flop comes and I have a decent drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Possibly 4 to the flush or the open ended straight, for instance.
