Stu Ungar is thought to be by many to the greatest No Limit Texas hold em Poker player ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in 1953 and began betting poker before becomming a teenager.

The young gambler began playing gin and at the age of ten had won his initial gin tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the age of 14 the little poker maestro had turned pro and dropped out of school.

In ‘54 Stu Ungar entered the record books by succeeding 10 grand in a gin rummy tournament without sacrificing a single hand, a record which still stands in New York today.

The fast speaking superstar has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic greats such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Stu Ungar had a real ability for betting poker except in spite of his achievements in Texas hold’em poker, he favored playing gin.

Stu once said that there might a few day be a far better No Limit Texas holdem gambler than him except he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a improved gin player.

In 1980 Stu was put on the global map as one of the ideal Texas hold’em Poker gamblers in the earth when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the 1st time. Extraordinarily it was the 1st time he had entered the tournament.

The following year he put aside any suggestions that it had been a fluke, by successfully defending his title. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by winning his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker master also battled with substance abuse and a year following succeeding his third title Stu Ungar died in his hotel room. According to physicians, he had passed away from a cardiac event which was brought on by his lifestyle.

Stu Ungar had started out with nothing except his skill and expertise for the game which made this poker excellent a millionaire several times over.
